What you don’t see when a tanker is rumbling down the road, could very well kill you. All of that liquid sloshing around in the tank builds incredible energy and momentum. The slightest shift in the direction of the tanker can mean catastrophe if that surge is not controlled.

It’s actually easy to see the effect of liquid surge on a tanker.

In fact, there are many videos and demonstrations out there which show liquid surge in tanks, and the effect that they have on tankers (and their drivers).

Here’s an animation which demonstrates:

When surge happens, bad things can happen. Tankers can flip over. They can skid to a stop taking extra space to do so. Accidents happen simply because the energy behind the driver could not be controlled.

What you don’t often see is what happens when a tanker has Surge Busters installed and then DOESN’T have liquid surge…

Because the end result is a whole lotta nothing.

That is, with no surge … there’s not much to demonstrate! It looks like you’re driving around a completely empty or a completely full truck.

So what’s actually going on when you have Liquid Surge Control’s Surge Busters installed?

What we do have are some small-scale models of tankers which show the effect of liquid slosh and surge in partially filled containers both with and without surge busters.

Note how little the liquid moves in the tank with the Surge Busters compared to the tank without.

This is the point. You aren’t redirecting energy build-up, you’re actually installing devices that absorb the energy before it can build up into anything significant.

Do you think eliminating liquid surge in your tanker trucks would be a profitable move for your business?
